Top Crimes of 2008
There were a lot of shady dealings in 2008. Wired Blog has been kind enough to compile the seven best capers of the year. I think the Snohomish Smokescreen is the clear winner. Vote for your favorite.

The web comic Saturday Morning Breakfast has had me in stitches for days. And there are so many posts I have yet to dig my way to the bottom. Which is good, because otherwise I would be reduced to refreshing the home page all day, praying for more funny. The humor is very dark, sometimes down-right depressing. But it's always hilarious.
In light of the economic crisis, one blog is chronicling a mysterious Wall Street phenomenon: Why do stressed out brokers always have their hands on their face?
Funny? Sad? Both?

Rebecca Kosick has started her own blogging empire! First it was the ever-fashionable on style; for moderns, then there was crafts; for moderns (or maybe I'm getting the order wrong?). Then there's her love letter to the Mitten state, HOMES at Last! which, though not stated out-right, I'm sure would be enjoyed by moderns.
A new and scrumptious blog has been added to the For Moderns catalog: Meals; for Moderns. The vibrant photography is just as delicious as the meals themselves. Check out today's dish, Kale Tortilla with Local Tomatoes:

Where Are The Dogs Humping is a great collection of images captioned in such a way as to make you laugh your face off.
For some, a gentleman is one who does everything from dressing to eating with style and refinement. To the writers of The Foggy Monocle, a gentlemen is someone who gets drunk at work and IMs his friend to let him know about it.
The Foggy Monocle posts IM, text, and email conversations of hilarious debauchery. Most involve copious drinking. All involve funny.
One Sweet Song is a new blog by musician Gina Pensiero. Every day (ish) she posts one MP3 of a song she's into and does a little review of it. It's an ecclectic mix, covering artists from The Breeders to Gal Costa. And who can say no to one free song every day?

Why are moms so damn hilarious? Forget about kids: moms say the darndest things. And now there's a blog to prove it.
Postcards From Yo Mama is a collection of emails, IM chats, and other correspondence from moms. Submit your own hilarious exchanges. Just don't send mom a link.
Move over Meursault, the world has a new existentialist hero: Jon Arbuckle.
By simply removing Garfield and his speech bubbles from Garfield cartoons, the author of Garfield Minus Garfield has created a darkly comedic collection of comics about loneliness in the modern world. This is the sort of humor that makes you cringe a little with sadness while you let out a sort of laugh-moan. Think the British version of The Office.
Quotation Marks Blog gathers and posts images of hilarious quote mis usage on signs and the like. Laugh at the current posts and then snap a picture of a quotation mark error in your burg and send it in .
Found Cameras and Orphaned Pictures was inspired by a Post Secret entry someone sent in saying that they had found someone's camera, developed the photos and now they wanted to give it back. Now if you find a camera, a roll of film, a memory card, whatever... you can send it to Found Cameras and Orphaned Pictures and maybe the owner will find it! It's equally fun just to peruse the orphaned photos (organized by where they were found) and see who has been reunited with their long lost pics.

I've been saving this one for awhile and, given the Macworld Expo yesterday and the unveiling of the MacBook Air, today seemed like a good time.
Hijinks Ensue is a self-described "Geek web-comic". Joel Watson, the sites creator, is one hilarious guy, and also gives you great updates on what's going on in nerddom: from gaming news to what's going on with Joss Whedon. It's updated every Monday and Thursday and definitely bookmark-worthy.
Today we rep yet another Blogger blog: Apostrophe Abuse. The snooty editor inside you will seethe at these apocryphal apostrophes!
I've been reading this blog pretty religiously since I discovered it, so I figured it was about time I shared the wealth.
I Guess I'm Floating is a music blog, mostly covering the Indie scene but sometimes wandering into other genres. Posts frequently include mp3s and videos (though attempting to download past posts' mp3s has often led to dead links for me).
My favorite part has been Thursdays and Covers, a weekly delivery of mp3s of various covers.
So enjoy! But don't forget about your favorite blogger blog...
Signs of Witness tracks the coming apocalypse. What makes this site really interesting is that it is not out to reaffirm the beliefs of the religious or to mock them: it does both! As it's tag line says, it aims to track the apocalypse for "unbelievers, believers, and the unbelieved". You get a great mix of "Global warming is going to cause the end of the world in like 5 minutes!!" (actually there's a ton of these, maybe 40% of the site) and "Both Nostradamus AND the Bible Predict Asteroid Will Destroy the Earth!" This sometimes leads to a very entertaining combination of comments.
My favorite part of the page though, as you may have noticed by the pictures, is the sightings of various religious icons in everyday objects. "That diet coke spill looks just like Moses! Hallelujah!"
We all make mistakes. Some are just more permanent than others.
Bad Tattoos is a gut-busting compendium of hilariously terrible blunders in ink. Posts range from your typical off-center tribal tats and poorly translated Chinese character jobs to your down-right offensive and white trash designs. Equally hilarious are the extremely witty comments by members.
You do need to have a LiveJournal account to friend and view this community, but they do have a website for everyone displaying their Worst of the Worst that anyone can get a sign in for.
Be forewarned: this site will suck you in for hours. Thanks to my girlfriend Gina for finding this gem.
Believe it or not, it appears that humans were making maps several millennia before the existence of written language. A map of the stars found on the walls of the Lascaux caves dates back to 16, 500 B.C. In fact, most of the earliest maps were of the night sky.
Now we have a plethora of well-known map sub-categories: there are topographic maps, geologic maps, nautical charts, weather maps, linguistic maps, etc. Well know you can add another category of maps to your list: strange maps.
Strange Maps is an awesome blog that serves as an odd, catrographic compendium of information. Some highlights include a map where U.S. states are renamed for countries with similar GDPs, the secret soviet plans for the complete removal of the North American continent, and the world in George Orwell's 1984.
For those of you who like Found Magazine, or anyone who's ever had roomates, you're going to love this site. Thanks to Cody in Atlanta, GA for bringing this site to the attention of Web Diversions.
Passive Agressive Notes is just what it sounds like: readers submit pictures of the passive agressive notes left by house mates, co-workers, and strangers. It's a combination of the humor of Overheard in New York and the surprising self recognition of Post Secret. Hey! You just got three sites for the price of one Web Diversions post!
I reccomend subscribing to their RSS feed. Hey, while you're at it, why not subscribe to Web Diversions? If you need instructions on how to do it, post a comment and I'll tell you how.
